SNAP Scholarship Criteria 2010
1. Nominees may be recommended by self, peers, colleagues, clients, faculty, family member or significant others. Nominees must be a current active member of SNAP and currently enrolled in a graduate program in nursing. Provide nominee’s name, address, phone number, current email address, and an updated CV.
2. Nominee must submit evidence of current enrollment in a MSN or doctoral nursing program. Nominees may submit evidence of current registration and tuition payment, a letter from the program stating that the student is currently enrolled and in good standing, or a student transcript showing ongoing work.
3. Nominee must submit a 500 word personal statement describing significant past accomplishments in nursing and describing their anticipated future leadership role in client-based services, education, research, professional activities and/or the SNAP organization . The recipient will be someone who brings vision, commitment, practice skills, and caring to his or her nursing position.
4. Each Nominee will also submit at least two (2) letters of reference. At least one being a professional recommendation.
5. The award recipients may be asked to present their work by poster or brief (15 min.) presentation at a future SNAP meeting or at the annual conference. All candidates for the scholarships must be willing to present their work to the SNAP membership.
6. Each Nominee will submit a complete application for consideration as well as a blinded copy of the application. A blinded copy consists of all the required application documents without any identifying information.
DEADLINE FOR SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS: Midnight, March 15, 2010
Candidates for the scholarships must submit all materials to the secretary of SNAP by the deadline. Any late or incomplete entries will not be considered. Only the “blinded” applications will be submitted for review by the scholarship committee. Award recipients will be announced to the SNAP membership at the May meeting.
