This conference offers advanced practice nurse providers, clinical nurse specialists, and physician assistants an opportunity to enhance clinical competencies, acquire new assessment and management skills, network with colleagues in advanced practice, and learn about new products, services and pharmacotherapeutic agents. Conference faculty include distinguished national, regional and local experts. Concurrent sessions allow participants to learn more about women’s health, infectious disease, stress-proofing your life, conducting research in clinical settings, pediatric update, geriatric prescribing, advanced care planning, and suturing.

Keynote Speakers: 

Mimi Secor, DNP, FNP-BC, NCMP, FAANP

Dr. Mimi Secor is a Nurse Practitioner, National Speaker/ Educator, and Consultant.   Her current passion is helping NPs become Healthy, Happy and Fit!

She has worked for 39 years as a Family Nurse Practitioner specializing in Women’s Health and is an NP at Just Us Women in Attleboro, Massachusetts.  In 2015, Ms. Secor earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions in Provo, Utah.  She is also a North American Menopause Society (NAMS) nationally certified menopause practitioner.

Ms. Secor is a visiting scholar at Boston College William F. Connell Graduate School of Nursing and guest lecturer at NP programs in New England and around the country.  She has also published extensively, including her 2014 co-authored textbook, Advanced Health Assessment of Women; Skills and Procedures, that was recently selected as an 2016 “AJN Book of the Year-honorable mention” and her 2012 co-authored textbook, Fast Facts About the Gynecologic Exam for Nurse Practitioners: Conducting the GYN Exam in a Nutshell.

 She has years of media experience including as a national radio host of the NP program, Partners in Practice on ReachMD.  She has also been a guest on Good Morning America, interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, Boston Globe and many others. Mimi has received several awards, including the 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Massachusetts Coalition of Nurse Practitioners (MCNP), and the 2015 Student Service Award from Rocky Mountain University for her contributions to the NP profession. 

Jennifer Williams, PhD, RN, ACNS-BC

Dr. Williams is the Director of Nursing Research at University of Kansas Hospitals.  She is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society for Nurses.  She is the co-section editor for the Experience Speaks column in the Journal of Emergency Nursing.  Her research interests and publications have focused on evidence-based practice, stroke and sepsis.

Handouts

Handouts will be available her at least 2 weeks before the conference for printing and downloading.  Bound books will also be available for purchase at the time of registration (limited amount available at the symposium) which will include all slides and handouts from the speakers.
Evaluations This year we will be using an online evaluation method.  Details will be posted at the symposium.  You must complete the evaluation to be able to receive your CE certificate.  

 
 Cancellations:  There will be a $50 cancellation fee.  No refunds given after 03/17/17.
Request for previous year’s CE certificate:  There is a $25 fee for replacement certificates
 
 

This activity has been submitted to the Midwest Multistate Division for approval to award nursing contact hours. The Midwest Multistate Division is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
